JUNNAR: A heartbreaking road accident occurred on the Junnar-Otur highway at Pangrimatha on Saturday afternoon. A violent head-on collision between a Hyva truck and a Honda City car claimed the life of Ananta Banaji Gawari, the Election Naib Tehsildar of Junnar. The tragedy unfolded around 2:30 PM on Saturday while Gawari was being rushed to Pune for emergency medical treatment. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local administration and the entire region.
High-Impact Collision Leaves Car Pulverized

According to reports, a Hyva truck (MH 12 FF 6423) was heading toward Otur from Junnar, while a Honda City car (MH 14 KQ 0812) was traveling from Otur toward Junnar. As both vehicles reached Pangrimatha, they collided with such immense force that the front section of the car was completely crushed.
Three individuals were injured in the crash: Ananta Banaji Gawari (52), Vijay Khartode (48), and Tushar Bhimrao Korde (35), all residents of Junnar. Local citizens acted swiftly, pulling the victims from the mangled wreckage and rushing them to Niramay Hospital in Otur.
Naib Tehsildar Succumbs to Injuries En Route to Pune
Following primary treatment, both Ananta Gawari and Vijay Khartode were referred to a hospital in Pune due to their critical condition. Unfortunately, Naib Tehsildar Ananta Gawari breathed his last while on the way to Pune. Meanwhile, the condition of Vijay Khartode remains critical, and Tushar Korde is being treated for minor injuries.
Upon receiving the news, Assistant Police Inspector Dnyaneshwar Bajgire and his team arrived at the spot to manage the traffic, which had been disrupted by the accident. Preliminary investigations have revealed that the dumper involved in the accident belongs to the ‘Vighnaharta Khadi Crusher & Pavers’ company based in Mandarne. The Otur police are currently conducting a detailed investigation into the matter.
