Shirur: Under the ‘Nashamukta Bharat Abhiyan’ and ‘Drugs-Free Maharashtra’ initiatives, Pune Rural Police have launched a major crackdown on drug trafficking. A joint operation conducted by the Local Crime Branch (LCB) and Shirur Police led to the seizure of 110 grams of Mephedrone (MD) drugs along with a motorcycle, together valued at approximately ₹22 lakh. Two suspects were arrested on the spot.

Acting on a tip-off under the directives of Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill, the police laid a trap and apprehended Surendrasingh Bhairansingh Rathore (24) and Shravan Tejaram Binoi (32). Both individuals, originally from Barmer, Rajasthan, were currently residing in Malthan (Shirur) and were planning to sell the contraband in the Shirur area.

A case has been registered against the accused at the Shirur Police Station under the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.
