Fire Havoc in Dhanep: Four Houses Reduced to Ashes
A major fire broke out on Friday afternoon in the Dhangar Basti of Dhanep, located in the remote Torna Valley of Rajgad taluka. In this tragic accident, the houses of four brothers—Vitthal, Shivaji, Suresh, and Laxman Mahadu Doiphode—were completely incinerated.
At the time of the incident, most family members were away. Only the elderly mother and grandson were inside the house; fortunately, they managed to escape just in time. Due to the large amount of animal fodder stored inside the houses, the flames spread rapidly, destroying all household belongings within moments. While the exact cause is under investigation, a short circuit is suspected to be the primary reason. Revenue official (Talathi) Atmaram Hapse conducted the spot assessment (panchnama), and the affected families are now awaiting government aid.
Lightning Strike Kills Cow and Ox
In another tragic incident at Pawar Mal in Velhe Budruk, Bhor taluka, a cow and an ox died instantly after being struck by lightning. On Friday afternoon, farmer Vilas Vitthal Gaikwad had tied his cattle under a tree for shelter.
As heavy winds and rain accompanied by loud thunder began, lightning struck the tree, killing both animals on the spot. This loss represents a massive financial blow to the farmer. In response, local residents have urged the administration to provide immediate financial compensation to Gaikwad to help him recover from the loss.
