Pune : A wave of intense grief and anger has gripped the Nasrapur area of Bhor Tehsil following the heartbreaking sexual assault and murder of a three-and-a-half-year-old girl. Outraged by this heinous crime, local citizens completely blocked the Pune-Satara Highway for nearly two hours on Friday night, resulting in massive traffic snarls with long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road. Protesters demanded that the accused be handed over to the public or executed in an immediate police encounter. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill arrived at the scene and assured the public that the case would be tried in a fast-track court, promising that the administration would work diligently to ensure the culprit receives the harshest possible punishment.
Following this assurance, a tense silence prevailed in the area on Saturday as the investigation was intensified under the leadership of Police Inspector Vijaymala Pawar. The victim was laid to rest on Saturday afternoon at the Vaikunth Crematorium in Pune amidst a somber atmosphere. In the wake of this tragic event, several political leaders visited the grieving family to offer their condolences. Member of Parliament Supriya Sule, MLA Rohit Pawar, former MLA Sangram Thopte, and Shankar Mandekar reached Nasrapur to meet the child’s relatives and strongly condemned the inhuman act. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar visited the girl’s parents in Dhayri to offer consolation and assured them that justice would be served.
