The Pune District Council (Zilla Parishad) has revoked the suspension of Anganwadi worker Devyani Pardhi, who was disciplined after exposing the substandard quality of nutritional food served to children at a local Anganwadi center. Pune Zilla Parishad President Virdhaval Jagdale officially confirmed the decision on Friday.
The controversy began when Pardhi recorded and shared a video highlighting the poor quality of food distributed under the child nutrition scheme. After the video went viral on social media, the administration initially faced backlash for suspending her on grounds of indiscipline rather than addressing the core issue. The action triggered widespread resentment among Anganwadi workers and social activists, who questioned the authorities’ accountability.
Amid growing public pressure, the district administration backtracked on its decision. Announcing the cancellation of Pardhi’s suspension, Zilla Parishad President Virdhaval Jagdale assured that a special drive will be launched by Monday to inspect food quality across all Anganwadi centers in the district and gather detailed findings for further corrective action.
