Comprehensive Preparations Finalized for Vote Counting Process

Sanjay Bhise-Baramati : The counting of votes for the Baramati Assembly by-election, which was held on April 23, is scheduled to begin at 8:00 AM on Monday, May 4. The process will take place at the Maharashtra State Warehousing Corporation Godown in MIDC, Baramati. Returning Officer Uttam Dighe confirmed that the administration has completed all necessary arrangements for the smooth execution of the counting process. Sufficient staff and officers have been appointed, and a robust police presence has been deployed to maintain law and order, supported by the issuance of relevant preventive orders.

Elaborate Infrastructure and Staffing for Efficient Tabulation

To facilitate the counting of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), 20 tables have been set up, while an additional 6 tables are dedicated to scanning postal ballots. The administration has mobilized a workforce of approximately 300 personnel, including 30 micro-observers, 30 counting supervisors, and 30 counting assistants. Assistant Returning Officer Swapnil Rawade has already conducted thorough training sessions for all appointed staff members to ensure accuracy and compliance with election protocols.

Implementation of QR Code Access System for Enhanced Security

In a first for the counting center, a QR code-based entry system has been introduced following instructions from the Election Commission. Access passes issued to staff, candidates, and their representatives feature unique QR codes that must be scanned for entry into the premises. All necessary materials and facilities have been arranged at the center, and strict security checks will be in place.

Media Facilities and Strict Prohibitions Inside the Center

A dedicated Media Room has been established at the counting center to provide round-by-round results to press representatives promptly. To ensure the integrity and security of the process, the administration has imposed a strict ban on the use of mobile phones inside the counting hall for all employees and representatives. Comprehensive police cordons will remain active throughout the day to ensure a peaceful environment during the announcement of the results.
