New Delhi : Activist Sonam Wangchuk announced from Safdarjung Hospital on Monday that he will continue his indefinite hunger strike following police action against protesters during the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) “Sansad Chalo” march. In a handwritten statement, Wangchuk condemned the treatment of peacefully protesting youth, stating his fast will persist until student leaders are permitted to meet parliamentarians or he is allowed to receive them at the hospital.

The Delhi Police intercepted the march—which demanded accountability for competitive exam irregularities and the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan—by barricading Jantar Mantar and detaining several demonstrators. Wangchuk, who was forcibly moved to the hospital on July 18 after 21 days of fasting, expressed gratitude toward the students for remaining peaceful despite provocation and urged authorities to resolve the standoff by allowing the youth to present their grievances before Parliament.
