Baramati: The Baramati City Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) organized a major protest at Bhigwan Chowk on Tuesday against derogatory comments posted on the Congress party’s official website regarding Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar, as well as the stance taken by senior Congress leaders. Key party functionaries, municipal councilors, and a large number of workers gathered to demonstrate, shouting slogans against Congress and displaying protest posters and placards.

Derogatory Language Against Women Leaders Violates Democratic Values

Speaking at the demonstration, party leaders stated that while political differences are natural, using derogatory and disrespectful language against a prominent female leader goes against the country’s democratic ethos. NCP officials asserted that the remarks aimed at Deputy CM Sunetra Pawar were completely baseless and meaningless. They added that Congress departed from its long-standing political tradition by resorting to low-level rhetoric, which only damages its own standing.

Evaluate Leadership on Performance, Not Personal Attacks

Protesters pointed out that despite Congress having produced several capable women leaders over the years, making such remarks against a female Deputy Chief Minister is deeply unfortunate. They emphasized that Sunetra Pawar is actively working to resolve public issues and should be evaluated based on her performance rather than personal attacks. NCP officials issued a stern warning that insulting remarks targeting female leadership will not be tolerated in the future.
