Bhor (Pune) : Torrential rain starting Thursday afternoon has thrown daily life into complete disarray across Bhor and Rajgad talukas. Rural streams and rivers are overflowing, with the Neera River swelling dramatically above its banks. The incessant downpours have pushed Bhatghar Dam to 94 percent capacity and Neera Devghar Dam to 98 percent capacity. Several cremation grounds and small bridges along the Neera River and reservoir margins have been submerged, disrupting normal activity in both rural and urban areas. Floodwaters invaded the Amardham cremation ground near the riverbank, while clogged drainage systems flooded streets and residential parking structures in town, causing severe distress to residents. Traffic on the Mahad-Pandharpur route ground to a halt temporarily as water submerged Ambeghar and the Varodi bridge in the Visgaon valley.

Massive Water Release from Dams Prompts Safety Warnings

With relentless rain continuing through Friday morning, authorities began releasing large volumes of water through the spillways of both major dams. Recognizing the severity of the situation, local administration issued strict warnings to populations living along the riverbanks and reservoir edges, advising citizens to remain indoors and avoid non-essential travel.

Rajgad Remote Areas Submerged as Gunjawani Dam Reaches 95 Percent

In the remote reaches of Rajgad taluka, torrential downpours have completely inundated village roads and open terrain, isolating several communities. Waterlogging along the Nasrapur to Velhe Mahal route created major traffic blockades, while floodwaters entering primary school campuses in villages along the corridor severely disrupted students. Additionally, with Gunjawani Dam hitting 95 percent capacity, officials placed nearby settlements on high alert. Numerous small causeways, footbridges, and local roads across the region remain fully submerged.
