Commuters Distressed by Dilapidated ST Buses at Manchar Depot
Pune : The State Transport (ST) buses from the Manchar depot, considered the lifeline for commuters in rural areas, are in a highly dilapidated condition. This ongoing neglect has left passengers, drivers, and conductors deeply distressed. Many buses feature torn iron metal sheets and completely damaged seating arrangements. Furthermore, a severe lack of cleanliness in several buses forces passengers to travel in highly uncomfortable and suffocating conditions.
The sheer apathy of the depot administration is glaringly evident. One ST bus does not even have its registration number displayed on the front, and the metal sheet above its front tire is visibly broken. In many buses, window panes are shattered, drivers’ seats are ruined, and the vehicles emit loud, terrifying rattling noises while in motion. Due to this complete lack of maintenance, commuting has become increasingly hazardous, creating a sense of fear among passengers.
Lack of Regular Repair and Maintenance
The brunt of this poor management is being borne by long-distance commuters, senior citizens, women, and students, who face immense hardships during their journey. It is not just the passengers; drivers and conductors are also struggling to perform their duties effectively due to the broken-down condition of the fleet.
Passengers allege that regular repairs and maintenance are being entirely ignored by the authorities. Local residents have urged the administration to immediately repair these run-down buses at the Manchar depot and ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable travel experience for everyone.
