Mulshi: A young man who had gone to graze cattle in the fields died due to drowning in the water pit of a mine in Jamgaon, Mulshi Tehsil. The deceased has been identified as Datta Eknath Surve (35, resident of Jamgaon, Mulshi).
Datta Surve had taken the cows out to graze towards the fields on Monday afternoon. When he did not return home until late night, a report was filed at Paud Police Station. Search operations began on Tuesday morning. During the search, his slippers, stick, and a cloth (gamcha) were found near the water pit of the Tata Company mine.
Following this discovery, Sarpanch Vinod Surve contacted Tehsildar Vijay Kumar Chobe. Under the guidance of Tehsildar Chobe, the Mulshi Disaster Management Committee’s Pramod Balkawade, Hanumant Navale, and local volunteers conducted a search and successfully retrieved the body from the water. After a post-mortem examination at the Rural Hospital, Paud, the final rites were conducted in Jamgaon.
