Pune Zilla Parishad’s Initiative Yields Success
Sanjay Bhise-Baramati (Pune) : The ‘Maaze Astitva’ (My Identity) scheme, launched by the Pune Zilla Parishad to make single women—including widows, divorcees, deserted women, and those who have chosen to remain unmarried—self-reliant and empowered, is achieving significant success.
During a special camp organized in Dorlewadi (Baramati Tehsil), Project Director of the Zilla Parishad, Dr. Shalini Kadu, stated that thousands of women across the district are joining the mainstream by availing themselves of various government benefits through this initiative.
Focus on Employment and Empowerment
The camp was organized under the joint aegis of the Zilla Parishad Pune, Panchayat Samiti Baramati, and the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) project. Speaking on the occasion, Block Development Officer (BDO) Kishore Mane highlighted that the challenges faced by single women are unique and complex.
“Our primary goal is to provide them with employment and self-employment opportunities, keeping their specific struggles in mind. Empowering them economically is essential for their overall development,” Mane said. The camp served as a direct platform where women were provided immediate access to various government welfare schemes.
Presence of Dignitaries
The event saw a high turnout of hundreds of women from the region who participated enthusiastically, discussing their concerns and future plans. Several prominent figures were in attendance, including Dr. Shalini Kadu (Project Director, ZP), Kishore Mane (BDO, Baramati), Nandan Jarande (Assistant BDO),Abhiman Mane (Child Development Project Officer),Rahul Jhargad (Former Panchayat Samiti Member), Devidas Sarangkar (Agriculture Officer), Supriya Nale (Sarpanch, Dorlewadi), Swati Dhawan (Sarpanch, Pimpli). The initiative continues to be a beacon of hope for women seeking financial independence and social recognition.
