Accused Arrested After High-Speed Chase
Indapur: In a shocking incident in Shelgaon, Indapur taluka, a man brutally murdered his wife by attacking her with a burning wooden log from a traditional stove (chulha). The Pune Rural Police reported that the crime was fueled by the husband’s suspicion regarding his wife’s character.
The victim, identified as Manisha Malhari Khomne (35), was heating water on the stove for her bath on Tuesday morning (December 23). According to the police, the accused, Malhari Rohidas Khomne (35), started an argument over his suspicions. In a fit of rage, he grabbed a burning wooden log from the stove and struck Manisha repeatedly on her head, arms, and legs.

Manisha sustained severe head injuries and began bleeding profusely. She was rushed to the Sub-District Hospital in Indapur, where medical officers declared her dead on arrival.
Police Pursuit and Arrest
Following the murder, the accused attempted to evade capture by leaving his mobile phone at home to prevent GPS tracking. He fled the scene in his four-wheeler. However, the Walchandnagar police acted swiftly and launched a manhunt. After a chase, the police successfully intercepted and apprehended Malhari near Jejuri on Tuesday evening at around 7:45 PM.
