Residents of Mauli and Venkateshwara Societies Frustrated by Rising Filth
PUNE: The main road near Jaydeep Mangal Karyalaya has turned into a dumping ground, causing severe distress to local residents and commuters. The stretch connecting Jaydeep Mangal Karyalaya to the Saswad-Pune road, which passes between Mauli Society and Venkateshwara Society, is being frequently used by bypassers to discard trash.
Local resident Tanaji Satav expressed concern, noting that while the Municipal Council’s waste collection vehicle (Ghantagadi) reaches every doorstep regularly, some individuals continue to dump garbage on the street at their convenience instead of handing it over to the collectors.
Health Risks and Stray Dog Menace
The waste accumulating on the road is not limited to household trash; it includes leftover food from events, plastic bags, old clothes, discarded footwear, and other non-biodegradable waste.
Demand for Strict Penalties
The community has urged the Saswad Municipal Council administration to clear the site immediately. They have also requested the authorities to monitor the area at night to catch those dumping waste illegally and to take strict legal and punitive action against violators.
